Play for Peace at Kurtipada Government School
O C I Tumudibandha had its Play for Peace programme at Kurtipada government school on Feb. 08, 2012. 38 students participated in the programme and enjoyed the play. Three volunteers too were part of the play. Fr. Romanus conducted the play. It was nice to see the school students enjoying the play.
Kurtipada government school is located in a remote area in the hilly region with beautiful natural surrounding. It is about 2 KM from the main road but because of the river it is a cut off area. We have to cross a river to reach the place. It is worth going there and conducting such programmes. Kurtipada village is a Christian populated village. The awareness on the need of education is already there but a lot of motivation for the continuation of education is needed. Our programme does attract student for the education.
Why do we give so much importance to this programme? The most important thing is to inculcate the values of peace and harmonious living. We believe that if these values are imparted to them at an early age will remain life long with them. We witness free mixing of children during the play without any caste or creed feeling. Together with this, these children are increasing their grasping and learning capacity. There is regularity in attendance too. This is what the teachers comment about the school children. So the teachers too are cooperating with us in allowing us to conduct Play for Peace programme. Isn’t it encouraging for the OCI team. We are invited by them to have our programme in the schools.
It is worthwhile to have such intervention which produces a lot of good results.
